Founders in SheWorx are women who embody three core values. We call these the AAA Values: Ambition — We set big goals and push ourselves outside of our comfort zone. Action — We work around constraints and always find a way to get things done. Altruism — We give back to our communities and encourage the success of other women.
Meet Sophie, one of the many incredible founders attending the upcoming SheWorx100 Summit.
1. What does your company do?
Warehouse Home is an independent media and e-commerce brand. We publish a biannual print and digital interior design magazine, run a popular website and a new online shop, and we've just published the debut Warehouse Home book. mywarehousehome.com
2. What impact are you making? What does this impact look like in 10 years?
Warehouse Home magazine launched in October 2014 and is already read in over 100 countries. The new Warehouse Home online shop and the debut book published by Thames & Hudson are further proving that New York style loft living and the industrial aesthetic are just as popular with those who don't live in warehouse conversions as with those who do. Our social media following is growing rapidly and we've received coverage on LBC Radio and Independent.co.uk and in The Times, Evening Standard et al.
Warehouse Home is currently raising investment in order to scale. Over the coming years, we will significantly enhance our online sales and the magazine's print distribution, publish further books and explore other exciting opportunities to further expand Warehouse Home's international reach.
3. How do you embody the SheWorx AAA Values of Ambition, Action, Altruism in your work and life?
Running a successful startup demands drive and determination in the face of a relentless workload and a daily whirlwind of triumphs and challenges. Prior to Warehouse Home, I launched the consulting business for WIRED magazine - it was a brilliant role but nothing compares to founding and growing your own venture. I'm very proud of the fantastic team I've nurtured and of everything we've achieved over the last two years, without any external funding. We're an independent brand with global ambition - and there's a lot more to come from Warehouse Home in the coming months!
4. Why are you excited about the SheWorx100 London Summit? What is the best part about being in the SheWorx community?
Warehouse Home is currently raising investment, so I am looking forward to connecting with investors during the SheWorx Summit. As a solo founder, I also enjoy meeting other business owners - particularly other female founders - to share ideas and experiences.
SheWorx is a collaborative community providing actionable insights and connecting founders, mentors and investors. I think that collaborative spirit is to be positively encouraged.
